screenshat privacy

screenshat captures full-page screenshots of public web pages. The iOS and web apps share the same backend. The data controller is Bridge City Lab LLC, Oregon, USA.

Data the service collects

• Submitted URLs are stored with capture jobs so screenshots can be rendered, downloaded, and exported.
• Screenshot files are stored until the job is deleted or they age out, currently around 30 days.
• IP addresses are used for rate limiting, security, and response delivery. Operational logs rotate and are not kept indefinitely.
• An optional access token is stored in the iOS Keychain and sent only to the screenshat server to retrieve your job history.

What is not collected

No advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, contacts, microphone, camera access, or cross-app behavioral tracking. Photo Library permission writes screenshots you explicitly save; the app does not read your library.

Processing and providers

Page rendering and screenshot generation happen on the screenshat server. Optional web-only vision analysis sends a rendered screenshot to the configured provider—OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google—only when selected for that capture. The iOS app does not currently invoke this feature.

Retention and deletion

Removing a capture from iOS History deletes only the local history row; it does not delete the server-side job. Signed-in users can delete their server-side captures through the web app. Anonymous jobs and their PNGs age out after roughly 30 days. Anyone may request earlier deletion by emailing luke@lukesteuber.com. Server access logs, including IP addresses, rotate within a short operational debugging window.

Children and your rights

The service is not directed at children under 13. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability. Personal information is not sold or shared for cross-context advertising.
