Terms of Service

1. The service

"screenshat" is a screenshot-capture service operated by Bridge City Lab LLC (Oregon, USA). The service includes the web app at screenshat.pics, the screenshat iOS app, and the API endpoints those clients use.

By using screenshat, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What you can do with it

You may submit URLs of publicly accessible web pages to be rendered and captured as PNG images. You may download the resulting PNGs and ZIP exports, and you may use those images for any lawful purpose, including commercial use. screenshat does not assert ownership of the output.

You warrant that you have the right to submit each URL and to retain or distribute the resulting screenshots. screenshat does not verify the legal status of every URL submitted and assigns that responsibility to you.

screenshat may retain a transient copy of the rendered screenshots and the URL on the server while the capture job is active or until you delete it. See the Privacy Policy for details.

5. Intellectual property

Bridge City Lab LLC retains all rights to the screenshat name, marks, source code, and documentation. The open-source portions of screenshat published at the project's public repository are licensed under their respective licenses.

6. Suspension and termination

The service may be suspended, rate-limited, or terminated for any account or IP that violates these terms, abuses the rate limits, or causes harm to the service or to third parties. No advance notice is required when the abusive activity is ongoing.

7. Service availability and changes

screenshat is provided as-is, with no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Capture timing, preset list, and retention windows may change. The service may be discontinued with reasonable notice on the project page or via the iOS app.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, screenshat and Bridge City Lab LLC disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of output. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bridge City Lab LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of your use of or inability to use the service. Total cumulative liability for any direct damages will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Bridge City Lab LLC for the service in the prior 12 months, or (b) twenty US dollars.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bridge City Lab LLC, its members and contractors, from any claim arising out of your use of the service in violation of these terms, including claims that a URL you submitted infringed a third party's rights.

11. DMCA and copyright

If you believe a screenshot generated through this service infringes your copyright, send a notice that complies with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to luke@lukesteuber.com. The notice should identify the work, the screenshot, your contact information, and the statements required by the statute. screenshat will respond to valid notices and may terminate the access of repeat infringers.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Exclusive venue for any dispute lies in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Material changes will be reflected with a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
